About Duttons
Butcher
deli & fresh local produce
Wally Dutton bought the shop in 1971 and he can remember when there were 3 other butchers shops in the village! In 1986 he under took a major refit of the shop where he discovered that the shop was in fact a stable before it was the local bakery!
Wally trained as an animal grader for the Meat and Livestock Commission before coming a butcher, which stands him iin good stead with the local farmers whom he is proud to support. We work closely with our suppliers to bring the best quality cuts of meat all year round.
We have stock local bread, cakes, vegetable, fruit, milk and cheese. During 2020 we increased our offering for the needs of the local community.
We have added a small grocery section which includes local honey, Mrs Darlingtons preserves, rice, pasta & sauces including a selection of gluten free items.
In 2022 the shop has been through only its 3rd re-fit in the 50 years it has been open. New refrigeration has been installed by Nantwich refrigeration along with new counters & servicing areas.
Wallace is often seen behind the counter serving customers, some of which are the children of his original customers from when the shop first opened. Now 75 he is trying to step back a little but it is proving difficult after spending 50 years serving the local community.
He has always said ‘The village deserves a decent shop’.
We have had great support from our customers, listening to their needs, and increasing our stock range to fulfil their orders. Many long standing loyal customers helped us by volunteering to deliver orders within the local community & surrounding area during Covid and “we couldn’t have done it without them”.
The team makes the most of its own produce including Sausages, Burgers, Cooked Meats, Black Pudding & Ready to Cook meals. Dry cured bacon is produced and sliced in store including our Treacle Cured Back Bacon. We bake pies daily, often sold hot from the oven.
Our 15 varieties of sausages include “Award Winning” Cheshire Farmhouse, Caramelised Onion and Blackpudding & Chive. Our Traditional Pork sausages are used to make Pigs in Blankets, the perfect accompaniment to any roast dinner.
Our Cheshire Turkeys are from Kelsall Turkeys of Congleton. The rearing and welfare being key to a fabulous flavour.
We supply many local businesses including community shops, cafes, restaurants & golf clubs.
